Elka Park
Bridge
Design and construction
inspection services for a replacement structure on Elka Park
Road over the Roaring Kill in the Town of Hunter.
The new structure consists of a 35 ft. long by
18 ft. wide steel stringer/timber decked superstructure, founded
on concrete filled sheet piling cells, anchored into rock. The
existing structure was an environmentally sensitive, circa 1900
steel pony truss. The original bridge was outdated for contemporary
vehicles but was capable of supporting pedestrian and/or
trailway loadings. To preserve this structure, it was relocated
to a site in the Town of Hunter to be used in their “Rail to
Trail” program.
