Glimmerglass Covered Bridge

Bridge inspection and design services for the covered bridge at Glimmerglass State Park. The bridge was built C.1820’s and was designated as part of a National Historic Landmark. Subsequently, the proposed work had to comply with Section 1409 of the State Historic Preservation Act.

The bridge is of timber bowstring truss construction that spans 54 feet. It carries foot traffic and some light vehicular traffic along an existing park trail.

Inspection of the bridge revealed that the structure was in remarkable condition considering its original date of construction. However, there were some isolated instances of severe deterioration requiring repairs.
