Go Back to Bridge Design & Inspection List

County Route 31 -- Heart's Content Road Bridge

This project included the replacement of two bridges on CR 31 in the Town of Cairo, New York. Specifically, the bridges were 40 ft and 24 ft. long hy-span, pre-cast, three-sided systems over the Kiskatom Brook and Shinglekill, respectively. Both structures were founded on bored-in-place steel caissons to rock. The connecting wing walls were constructed with steel H-pile and concrete lagging.

Greene County required this project be completed within one year (design to complete construction). The design team worked closely with the NYSDOT liaison and the County and completed Phase I-VI design in four months and the construction was completed within schedule.

Foit-Albert provided all aspects of design – structural, hydraulic, and environmental – as well as construction inspection services. The NYSDOT liaison commended Foit-Albert on the ability to work quickly with the established guidelines (i.e., all required steps in a Phase I-VI design) and how the firm maintained productive communication with both the County and the Department.
