Construction
inspection services for this New York State Thruway, Canal
Corporation funded, Lock C5 Canal restoration project via
a NICET Level III construction
inspector.
Rehabilitation inspection included:
Concrete reconstruction and repair of
the canal lock-wall surfaces
Reconstruction of the masonry
retaining walls adjacent to the taintor gates at the inlet
and outlet of the lock
Repair of the taintor gates
Repair and replacement of the
lock’s mechanical systems
Landscaping of the lock area with
new walkways, picnic modules, and tree and shrub plantings.
The duration of the project was two years and construction
was performed during the off-season of the canalway
system.
