Shoreline Apartments
- Buffalo, NY
Originally a 600
unit low-income family and single residence development
constructed in 1972, Shoreline Apartments saw rapid decline
in tenancy due to outdated infrastructure, unsafe neighborhood conditions
and
un-marketable
unit composition.
Foit-Albert’s proposal to renovate and reconfigure
the existing buildings and site creates marketable two-story
units, adaptable and handicapped accessible ground floor units,
new interiors,
new site landscaping and amenities for the entire two phase
dedensified project. NYSERDA evaluations of existing HVAC
systems and energy modeling have been performed and the recommendations
have been incorporated into the design of the renovated units.
The goal to create a sustainable community from the past
failed
attempt at public housing has been thoroughly addressed and
incorporated into the new development.
