Transit Bridge over Genesee River Ribbon Cutting
Representatives, including New York State Senator Catherine Young, Allegany County DPW Superintendent David S. Roeske and Foit-Albert’s own Scott Kinsman, PE, officially open the Foit-Albert designed Transit Bridge over the Genesee River at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, November 30th. The bridge is comprised of two 145’ spans and runs over the Genesee River near the towns of Belfast and Angelica New York. Foit-Albert Associates provided engineering design, landscape design, construction administration and construction inspection for this federally funded, locally administered project. This was a huge Foit-Albert effort with a total of 13 internal employees contributing significant hours towards the project. The Richardson Olmsted Complex Stabilization project was highlighted in The Buffalo News along with a Foit-Albert mention. This significant project was highlighted in association with the National trust Conference recently held in Buffalo October 19-22nd. Our very own Mark Pustulka was front and center at Fort Niagara as witnessed on the cover of the National Gazette. Mark and his re enactment Group US 3rd artillery regiment led participants through the fort as part of the National Preservation Conference. Cliff Rigerman was highlighted in The Buffalo News The new $8 million Town of Lancaster Police Headquarters and Town Court project was mentioned in The Buffalo News and The Lancaster Bee. Gwen Howard discussed the progress of the project at a recent Town Board at a recent meeting. The ceremony honors the best of the best in Real Estate, Construction and Development. Bonnie, Shawn Cowe, Jim Maurer, Jenn Kensy and Chris Cooke represented Foit-Albert. The AIA WNY Awards will be announced very soon. We are hoping to have a huge announcement!!! Stand by. Other News The Foit-Albert designed Grist Mill Road over Stony Creek will be featured in the 2012 Local Bridge Calendar for the month of February. Warren Shaw, Norm Pirro, Paul Pirro and Bob Purrott were all a part of the FA team. Phil Trifaro recently hosted about 10 cub scouts as part of a badge for the troop. Phil did a little talk in the office showing them the plans and then took them out on a site tour showing them the reality of the paper they were just looking at. All the boys, and the adults too, were very impressed.

Foit-Albert Associates honored with the 2011 Business First Brick by Brick Award for Best New Construction The Foit-Albert designed Niagara USA Official Visitor Center was selected by Business First as winner in the Best New Construction Category during the 8th Annual Brick by Brick Award competition. The ceremony, held September 15th, recognized the best of the best in real estate, construction and development.
The Niagara USA Official Visitor Center opened in the summer of 2010 and serves as an inviting landmark for tourists and other visitors to one of the wonders of the world – Niagara Falls. The 7,500 square foot facility is located in the heart of downtown Niagara Falls, blocks away from the American and Bridal Veil Falls. The all-glass façade encloses a visitor’s gallery which provides information on the Niagara region’s historical and present-day attractions, including the Erie Canal, Lockport Caves, Niagara Wine Trail, Artpark, and , of course, Niagara Falls and the Niagara Gorge. Informational kiosks, touch-screen terminals and a library of materials illustrate the numerous interests and opportunities available within the region to the approximately 30,000 visitors each year. Visitors can also find information on and make reservations for area hotels, restaurants, and other venues.

2011 Heritage Award Recipients
The Erie Canalway Heritage Award of Excellence celebrates significant places in the National Heritage Corridor recognized the Foit-Albert designed Delta Sonic Heritage Farm at the Buffalo Zoo. The third oldest zoo in the country tapped into Buffalo’s canal history as the focus of its new children’s exhibit: the Delta Sonic Heritage Farm. Opened in 2010, the family-friendly exhibit depicts life on a small family farm located on the banks of the Erie Canal in the mid-1800s. Dignitaries from The Botanical Gardens and Erie County preside at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Foit-Albert designed Botanical Gardens Growing House which was held on July 27, 2011.
The new 13,000 sf building includes a 2 level administration and services building along with a 3,700 sf state-of-the-art greenhouse. Bryce T. Bixby, project manager and architect explained that the greenhouses, which are Silver LEED rated, were implemented under the Botanical Gardens Master Plan. Foit-Albert Associates completes design of the new Niagara USA Official Visitor Center
The new $2.2 million Niagara USA Official Visitor Center is a state-of-the art facility that will serve as an inviting landmark to serve tourists and other visitors to one of the wonders of the world – Niagara Falls. The 7,500 square foot all-glass facade building, the first new building built in Niagara Falls since 2006, is a destination to find out everything the region has to offer. Using touch screen displays and information kiosks, visitors have access to history and heritage including exhibits relevant to the Niagara area – the Falls, the Niagara River, Lake Ontario and the Erie Canal. Visitors also have access to hotel and attraction reservations and can locate area restaurants and shopping destinations. In addition, Foit-Albert’s design included 4,200 square feet for the Tourism and Convention Corp’s administrative offices, a conference room, and rest rooms. "“It will act as a beacon, inviting visitors during the day and guiding them in the evening,”” said Beverly Foit-Albert, President of Foit-Albert Associates.

New York State Thruway's Woodbury Toll Barrier -- Highway Speed E-Z Pass Named 2011 Outstanding Project of the Year in Roadway Management by the Intelligent Transportation Society of New York.
The New York State Thruway and Foit Albert Associates among others implemented Open Road Tolling at the Thruway's Woodbury Plaza. For the first time, E-Z Pass customers, including commercial vehicles, can travel from the Tappan Zee Bridge toll barrier on the Hudson River to the Williamsville toll barrier just east of Buffalo without stopping or slowing down.
